Brand Migration Enables the Convergence of Core Competencies within Energy Management to Customers Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and security solutions, announced it has completed the strategic transformation of TAC as its Buildings Business. Schneider Electric is now uniquely poised to directly offer customers a full range of solutions across its core competencies: power, data centers, industrial automation, building management and security. This convergence enables customers worldwide to realize optimal energy and security efficiencies, and the associated savings in capital and operating expenses. "This brand migration is more than just a name change; this is a new way of approaching our energy management business and customers' needs," said Chris Curtis, president and CEO of Schneider Electric's Buildings Business. "Establishing the Buildings Business as the center for one of Schneider Electric's core competencies is a major companywide initiative. We can now take multiple solutions from our comprehensive portfolio through one seamless customer interface to become a single-source energy management provider.” Schneider Electric serves customers around the world that are as varied as Digital Realty Trust, Rockefeller Group Development Corporation, Genzyme, Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, Hilton Copenhagen Airport, Ideapark, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Westin Resort Macau, Syracuse University, Edith Cowan University and Harrods. “Like any university, our buildings have diverse uses that are constantly changing. We need to respond to the community’s needs by balancing energy conservation with energy use,” says Tim Sweet, Syracuse University’s director of Energy and Computing Management. “We chose Schneider Electric because the company’s solutions allowed us to replace the hodgepodge of communications systems for building management across our campus with a true Ethernet-based client/server system that provides centralized information systems with access from any location.” “The Rockefeller Group Development Corporation has been working successfully with Schneider Electric across two of its core competencies since the mid ‘90s,” said James Haviaris, senior vice president of operations with the Rockefeller Group Development Corporation. "The new energy management system based on smart grid technology has enabled us to better manage our electricity usage and reduce energy consumption by 60,000 kWh per month, saving us $12,500 per month. We are also working with Schneider Electric to improve on our EnergyStar rating and LEED certification with solid results.” “With TAC integrated as its Buildings Business, Schneider Electric can now deliver its expertise in ways that can enhance energy efficiencies and cost savings through the entire lifecycle of our buildings. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the company we believe to be the innovative leader in energy management solutions. Schneider Electric will help us advance our business and sustain the environment at the same time,” added Haviaris. While customers can expect a variety of new opportunities, certain things will not change. “The trusted relationships customers have come to expect from our employees will remain the same, and we will continue to deliver the highest level of expertise, products and services our customers have come to rely on,” said Curtis Visit Schneider Electric at the upcoming World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC) held November 4-5, 2009 in Washington, DC!
