PA Foundries Finding Relief From Rising Electrical Costs With Energy Management.

Urick Foundry, Erie, PA; Donsco Foundry, Mount Joy, PA; and Benton Foundry, Benton, PA, have approved implementing innovative energy management technologies to optimize electrical loads resulting in drastic reductions in peak-demand charges for electricity used by the foundries. The peak demand electricity charges for these foundries were 25% – 50% of their total electric bill. To reduce further high energy bills, the foundries will be mitigating those changes by utilizing technology provided by Powerit Solutions.

Powerit Solutions offers Intelligent Energy Management solutions for foundry facilities and large, energy-consuming business customers throughout the U.S. These significant cost savings for electricity usage are achieved by using demand response and demand control techniques to reduce utility costs – and to make optimal use of rate advantages associated with managing peak demand. The system is easily configured and can be organized so that electricity consumption is reduced without significant impact on each company’s productivity, quality, or comfort. Intelligent, automated energy control – coupled with foundry load management tools – generates both immediate and long-term savings for industrial facilities.

Energy management savings begin immediately upon system implementation, and continue to improve over time as the user refines the settings. Typically, customers pay back their investment in less than two years, and sometimes within a few months of installation. On average, the peak demand cost reduction runs between 10 and 30 percent of the total electricity bill, saving customers tens of thousands of dollars a year. About Powerit Solutions.

Based in Seattle, Powerit Solutions, LLC, is a U.S.A.-based wholly owned subsidiary of Powerit Holdings, Inc with offices in Seattle and Windsor, Connecticut and additional operations in Europe through its subsidiary Diana Solutions AB located in Malmo and Stockholm, Sweden.
