Source: Company When it comes to determining
actual building performance, it all comes down to data. Data takes the
guesswork out of energy management, and drives decisions as to what energy
conservation measures need to be taken in a facility. Portable data loggers are ideal
tools for collecting building performance data. These affordable, compact
devices can help establish energy performance baselines, and reveal a
buildings performance under real-world, rather than modeled, circumstances.
They offer fine-tuned visual performance feedback, measuring changes in temperature
and energy use when people enter and exit a building, turn on and off lights, A new 30-page guide from Onset
details how portable data loggers can be applied in a number of building
monitoring applications, such as HVAC systems monitoring, commissioning,
Measurement & Verification, and load profiling. The guide offers
practical tips and techniques on a range of topics, including data logger
installation, monitoring plan development, safety, and data
interpretation. Source:Company Under Governor Chris
Gregoire, the Washington State Department of Commerce and the State Energy
Program awarded a $1.5 million loan to MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions to
implement utility-based, energy-efficiency and renewable-energy measures in
buildings serviced by Seattle Steam Company. Source: Company Energy efficiency improvements
helped reduce the city of Winona's energy costs by more than $120,000 in 2009,
while similar upgrades saved Winona County more than $27,000 last year. The
savings came from small changes such as retrofitting city traffic signals
with LED lighting and changing light fixtures in county buildings to use
lower-wattage bulbs, according to data presented this month by the city and
county. But the small changes were part of a big investment, as the city and
county spent more than $2 million to implement the upgrades as part of
contracts with McKinstry, a company that helps businesses improve energy
efficiency. THE SMART GRID:
Enabling Energy Efficiency and Demand Response Energy Management Handbook, 7th
edition
Newly revised and edited, this seventh edition includes
extensive revisions to seven of its twenty-eight chapters, including those
covering waste heat recovery, HVAC systems, energy management and control
systems, energy systems maintenance, alternative energy, indoor air quality,
and codes, standards and legislation. This comprehensive handbook has become
recognized as the definitive stand-alone energy manager's desk reference,
used by thousands of energy management professionals throughout the industry.
You'll find coverage of every component of effective energy management,
including energy auditing, economic analysis, boilers, steam systems,
cogeneration, waste heat recovery, building envelope, HVAC systems, motors
and drives / electric energy management, energy management control systems,
lighting, energy systems maintenance, insulation system s, alternative
energy, sustainability and high performance green buildings. Source: DOE The U.S. Department of Energy’s
(DOE’s) Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) recognized 151 U.S.
manufacturers for their significant achievements in industrial energy
efficiency with the third annual Save Energy Now Awards. 2010 award
recipients were plants and companies that had actively pursued energy-savings
opportunities identified during a 2009 Save Energy Now energy
assessment, which has led to more than $32 million in cost savings and 4
trillion British thermal units (Btu) in total energy savings over the past
year. Source: Company Source: Company Source: Company
