A steel structure which supports transmission lines. Strictly speaking, transmission tower can refer to any tower that supports telecommunication lines, power lines, or any other type of cable that transmits signals or energy. In practice, a transmission tower in the telecommunications industry generally refers to a tower that supports a wireless transmitter (radio, microwave or other) as opposed to a tower that supports signal-carrying lines.
