system sale, on-system sale

A sale to customers where the delivery point is on, or directly interconnected with, a transmission system. A system sale might be made by a marketer who acquires the energy from a generating facility to a utility who takes delivery of the energy at the point where that utility's distribution system connects with the transmission grid. While these sales are fairly common in wholesale energy markets, they are not considered desirable for the customer since the source of supply or availability of transmission facilities could be uncertain.
