self-service wheeling

Describes situation relating to delivery of energy to a customer who is both a consumer and a producer of energy. It usually refers to a situation in which excess energy produced by a customer at one site is fed back into the system, and the value of that energy applied against the cost of energy provided to another site owned by the same customer. In effect, it is as if the customer has supplied their own energy.
