A charge or, rarely, a discount on an energy bill for energy which has been acquired from a source other than the utility's usual energy sources, for example from another neighboring utility. This charge is typically applied only when the price of the outsourced energy is different from the price of energy acquired from a primary source or generated by the utility from its own facilities.
