price to compare

A price listed on energy bills in some deregulated markets which shows a consumer the price that a competing energy supplier would have to offer to match the price on the bill. The complexity of some energy bills in these markets often makes it difficult to determine exactly what amount is being paid for what services. Price to compare is used to help educate consumers on price comparison and simplify the process of determining competitive energy prices in deregulated markets.
