A generating condition in which total energy output exceeds the load used by the system. Overgeneration isn't necessarily a harmful condition, since "mitigation" can be applied to bleed off excess power or prevent excess power from being transmitted. It is an undesirable condition for producers, however, because overgenerated power has no value if it is not put to productive use.
