lithium polymer technology

Lithium-ion polymer is usually referred to as lithium polymer. Lithium is the lightest metal and has the highest electrochemical equivalence. Properties like resistance to high voltages, high electrochemical equivalence, and good conductivity make this metal suitable for use in electric power sources like rechargeable batteries. For example, lead-acid batteries can produce about 35-watt hours/kg of energy, while lithium polymer batteries are capable of producing 200-watt hours/kg.

Lithium polymer can be used with a plastic electrolyte in a battery. This makes it smaller, lighter, and amenable to irregular shapes. The technology has yet to be widely adopted, as it is not cost-effective.
