A measure of average load over a given period expressed in kilowatts. This measurement is used by utilities and wholesalers to determine a customer's average requirement. For example, a household using 150kWH per month uses five kWH per day, or about 0.2kWH per hour. That customers daily kilowatt demand is thus expressed as 0.2kW. An industrial customer who requires 1,000kWH every hour at a particular time of day has a kilowatt demand of 1,000 kW.
