A special type of transformer designed specifically to reduce electrical noise and interference. Isolation transformers are used in sensitive electronic devices ranging from commercial diagnostic equipment to home stereo components. Isolation transformers don't necessarily change the voltage level of the input power. Some produce the same output voltage as input voltage, and are used solely for the purpose of insuring extremely precise power for use by sensitive components.
