Any device used to remove fly ash and other particulate matter from the exhaust gases of an incinerator or boiler plant. The type of collector used depends on the available budget and the type of particulate which needs to be removed. Varieties of collectors include electrostatic precipitators, fabric or woven-fiber filters (baghouses), mechanical collectors (cyclones) and wet scrubbers.
