Once an independent system operator's schedule for the next day's energy transmission has been checked with neighboring ISOs, the result is called a final day-ahead schedule. ISOs have the power to schedule the management and use of the transmission grid or network under their control, but they must also arrange with other ISOs to guard against congestion and insure coordinated, efficient delivery of energy for the following day.
