These terms both refer to a value that expresses the relative efficiency of devices that consume electricity, mores specifically devices that produce heat. Most commonly applied to appliances and industrial equipment. EER is calculated by dividing BTUs-per-hour produced by the number of watts used to produce that heat. The higher the EER, the greater the device's efficiency.
