Refers to that part of the cost of producing energy which could be avoided if demand for that energy didn't exist or if alternate energy supplies were available.
Decremental cost refers only to the cost of producing the energy, and differs from avoided cost which refers to all fixed costs whether or not they are related to production, as well as costs related to depreciation of assets and other expenses.
