A type of switch designed to automatically interrupt power when more power is flowing through the circuit than the circuit is designed to handle. Household circuit breakers typically include manual switches that look and behave like wall-mount light switches. Commercial circuit breakers used in electrical distribution and industrial installations don't always have visible switches, and don't necessarily have the large fork-like handle shape that most people associate with commercial breakers. Instead they may be computer- or remote-controlled switches located in command centers miles from the actual circuits they are designed to interrupt.
