Refers to bypass of distribution services. When a retail energy customer acquires energy directly from a wholesale energy source and takes delivery of energy directly from transmission systems, it is referred to as bypass. The customer bypasses any charges levied by a local utility for distribution services, and provides their own facilities for conversion of energy to usable voltage.
