FPL Group, Inc. is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of power. FPL's energy sources are fossil fuels, natural gas, and nuclear energy. The company is headquartered in Juno Beach, Florida, and reported revenues of $6.64 billion (for the nine months ending Sept. 2001).
FPL owns power generation capacity of over 20,000 megawatts, providing electric power to the main power grid in the region through a 67,000-mile interconnected power-line network. They service about 7 million customers along the eastern coast and southern Florida.
FPL Energy Services, a subsidiary of FPL Group, markets retail natural gas in Florida, serving businesses like hospitals, hotels, manufacturers, and restaurants.
Both of FPL's nuclear power plants are ranked among the top performing plants in the world by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).
