Senior Energy Management Engineer #31806

 

Puget Sound Energy’s Business Energy Management Department (Kent Office) is looking for an Energy Management Engineer (EME) to focus on custom grant development in South King and Pierce counties.  At the discretion of leadership, this position may be filled as a Senior Energy Management Engineer, Energy Management Engineer, or Associate Energy Management Engineer depending on the qualifications of the candidate.

 

This position will work with customers representing a wide-variety of end-uses including commercial, industrial and/or institutional that may have substantial technical complexity.  Specific duties include managing all phases of custom-grant projects with customers located primarily in South King and Pierce counties. 

 

This role partners with customers to develop projects that produce sustained energy savings.  This may include specific activities such as evaluating billing and meter data, assisting with energy audits, implementing sub-metering and trend-logging, recommending measures for improving energy efficiency of equipment either through operations, maintenance or replacement, helping customers to engage and train staff, and working with customers to evaluate resulting changes to electrical and gas loads. 

 

The ideal candidate will have several years experience with HVAC systems in various building types (design, commissioning, operating) combined with high-level program management experience.  The successful candidate will have an ability to understand the proper operation of complex building systems, to communicate with all levels of a customers' organization, and to effectively transfer skills and knowledge to others.  .  The EME will implement projects and programs while ensuring compliance of all tariffs and financial procedures, and develop new and revised department policy proposals to increase effectiveness of programs and services.  It is important that this role markets our energy efficiency programs to eligible customers and various organizations within the commercial and industrial sector, while maintaining productive contractor relationships to ensure repeated successful project development and follow-through.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – SENIOR LEVEL:

  • BA/BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5 years of energy management project experience OR;
  • Formal energy management training with 7 years of energy management project experience.
  • Demonstrated project and/or program management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:

  • BA/BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 3 years of energy management project experience OR

  • Formal energy management training with 5 years of energy management project experience.

  • Demonstrated project and/or program management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – ASSOCIATE LEVEL:

  • BA/BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR

  • Formal energy management training and experience managing energy management projects with commercial facilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Engineer License
  • AEE Certified Energy Manager
  • Energy auditing and project development experience
  • Commissioning experience
  • Experience in aspects of program development, including understanding both internal and external processes necessary to market, sell, deliver, verify and track program activity.
  • Customer service experience
  • Utility industry experience
