Daikin AC (Americas), Inc.
Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) System VRV - Air Cooled VRV Daikin’s exclusive Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV®) air conditioning system utilizes advanced technology to provide energy efficiency and comfort levels in Heat Pump (cooling or heating) and Heat Recovery (simultaneous heating and cooling) format. Because their revolutionary system blends comfort-quiet technology with compact design, you can feel perfection without having to hear or see where it’s coming from. The advanced VRV enables precise temperature control for each individual zone. Each indoor unit has an electronic expansion valve that continually controls the flow of refrigerant. So as climate, lighting and occupancy cause temperature and humidity fluctuations, the intelligent VRV inverter “variable speed” compressor using R-410A refrigerant continually adjusts to maintain the desired comfort level to within ±1.0° F of the temperature set point. Energy efficiency - The inverter “variable speed” compressor in the outdoor unit modulates heating and cooling output instead of simply cycling ON/OFF, dramatically reducing operating costs. Multiple zone capability - Individual rooms or areas can be independently set to different temperatures or switched off entirely when heating or cooling is not needed. Precise room temperature control - The VRV system reaches the desired temperature sooner than conventional systems and continuously maintains the targeted room temperature. Cleaner, more comfortable air - The VRV system provides continuous air filtration and circulation, and can be installed with high efficiency air filters. Quiet sound levels - Indoor units come with fan speed control and outdoor units have built-in noise reducing features, including a night time quiet mode. Absolute Comfort - The unique combination of energy efficiency, control, and user comfort only available from Daikin’s VRV system. VRV-WII - Water Cooled VRV Daikin’s new Water Cooled VRV (VRV-WII) offers an energy saving alternative to traditional centralized equipment. The VRV-WII is available in 3 outdoor cabinet sizes of 5, 6 and 7 tons and using a modular approach to serve a single system up to 21 tons in 7 different capacity combinations. At only 330 pounds and measuring less than 40-inches high, applying to decentralized plant rooms is easy, while keeping space impact to a minimum. The system is designed to fit taller and larger applications operating with closed loop cooling tower, or dry cooler and boiler operations. “The launch of VRV-WII opens up a whole new opportunity for engineers and architects to benefit from the comfort of VRV technology”, said Lee Smith, Director of Engineering and Applications. “Daikin’s VRV-WII is a high performance solution for hotels, condominiums, offices and other large commercial applications and truly stretches the envelope of VRV into buildings above 30 stories, and significantly adds to the engineer’s application toolbox.” The VRV-WII allows for extensive refrigerant piping, enabling several spaces to be cooled by a single refrigerant circuit. The VRV-WII uses the same Daikin inverter technology that is used with air-cooled systems, but extends the application of VRV products by utilizing the same quality family of VRV indoor units and controls options. VRV-S – 1-Phase for residential and light commercial application The versatility of the VRV-S makes it ideal for most light commercial or residential projects — retail store, small office, restaurant, hotel, healthcare facility, school, multi-family townhouse, condo or single-family home. Like all other VRV family systems, the VRV-S provides a long piping length of 492 ft (575 ft equivalent piping length), with a total piping length of 1,000 ft. If the outdoor unit is installed above the indoor units, the height can be up to a maximum of 165 ft. These generous allowances facilitate an extensive variety of designs. The entire pipe network is also facilitated by the use of the REFNET® tubing connectors, which reduces the installation time. According to Don Ferrier, the NAHB 2007 Green “Builder Advocate of the Year”, choosing Daikin AC as the HVAC provider was the right thing to do. “Daikin’s air source heat pump VRV-S, in my opinion, is the most energy efficient air source heat pump available at a competitive price. We expect to see 40 percent more efficiency than we would using a standard 13 SEER.” Don Ferrier selected the products of the third Platinum LEED home for Homes pilot program (one of only three certified Platinum level LEED homes in the nation). The home is a 2,000 square foot house designed to showcase a near-zero energy home that is also affordable.
